Straight out of the May 2009 issue of Nintendo Power magazine, Nintendo's officially licensed monthly publication, comes the revealing of the next Silent Hill installment for the Nintendo Wii game console, titled Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. First publicized on April 1, 2009, April Fool's Day no less, the magazine details some information on the vigorously underway development along with some images depicting familiar settings. The game features Harry Mason on his search through Silent Hill for his young daughter Cheryl in a "re-imaging" of the first Silent Hill video game from 1999. Although the game's premise is based off the original, it promises to be an entirely new experience introducing distinct character roles and original sequence of events. The Wii remote controller and the Wii nunchuk controller are both reported to be fully utilized in the game. Climax, the developer behind Silent Hill: Origins, is developing Shattered Memories with a speculated release date of Q4 2009 in North America.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is also confirmed for a simultaneous release on the Sony PlayStation 2 console and the Sony PlayStation Portable handheld device.
